& & 본고는 기왕의 연구성과와 대외교섭의 다양성을 통해 4~5세기 남부가야제국과 전남동부지역집단의 상호관계의 추이를 살폈다. & & Ⅰ단계 남부가야제국과 전남동부 지역집단의 교섭은 빈번하게 이루어지지 않았다. 특히 남부가야제국의 교섭주도국인 가락국이 전남동부 지역집단으로부터 획득할 수 있는 문물이 자국의 목적에 적합하지 않았거나 교섭루트 상 접근이 용이하지 않았기 때문에 상호 간의 교섭이 활발하지 않았던 것으로 생각된다. & & Ⅱ단계는 가락국의 쇠퇴로 안라국이 남해안 대외교섭에 우위를 점하면서 전남동부지역의 각 세력과의 교섭을 주도하였다. 하지만 양 권역의 교섭을 통해서만 전남동부지역에 가야계 문물이 전해진 것이 아니라 주민이동을 통해서도 문물이 전해졌을 것으로 추론된다. & & Ⅲ단계는 ‘포상팔국’이 남해안 교섭루트를 다각적으로 개척하여 활발한 대외교섭을 행하였고, 주민이동도 빈번해졌다. 하지만 양 권역은 정치적 협력관계보다는 상호 간의 교류와 주민이동으로 함께 발전한 것으로 보인다.

& & This article aims to explore the course of relation between southern countries of Gaya and the complex society in eastern Chonnam in fourth and fifth centuries thorough the diversity of foreign negotiation along with existing studies on this topic. & & To begin with, in the first stage, there had been no frequent negotiations between southern countries of Gaya and the complex society in eastern Chonnam. Especially, there seem to be some reasons which support this situation: the products that Garakkuk could obtain from the complex society in eastern Chonnam had little to do with its necessity; the accessibility of routes to negotiations was not easy for both. & & Furthermore, in the second stage, attaining superiority in foreign negotiations around the southern coast of Korea due to the decay of Garakkuk, Allaguk conducted negotiations with a series of groups in eastern Chonnam. Nevertheless, it can be inferred that Gaya culture would be transferred to the eastern Chonnam through not only negotiations between both regions, but also movements of inhabitants. & & Finally, in the third stage, thanks to the fact that Posangpalguk developed a variety of routes to negotiations in the southern coast, there had been the active foreign negotiations as well as the continual movements of inhabitants. However, both regions grew together owing to mutual exchanges and movements of inhabitants rather than political cooperation.
